New Year New Room Refresh Challenge 2019

Happy New Year! I’ve been on a small holiday hiatus from blogging, but I’m ready to tackle 2019 by diving right in to a room refresh along with seven other talented bloggers.

The New Year New Room Refresh Challenge (NYNR Challenge from here on out) is a one-month challenge hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living, and the goal is to refresh a space in the span of January to ring in the new year.

This is my third time participating, and today is supposed to be the day we share before photos of our space with you all… BUT…Sigh. I haven’t made up my mind yet on which space I am freshening up.

The reason I am indecisive is due to the cost of hanging wallpaper- I’m waiting for an estimate to come in on my the top three spaces I’d love to tackle for this challenge: guest bedroom, guest bathroom OR powder room.

My TOP choice is the powder room, but it is also the most difficult to photograph.

My second choice is the guest bedroom, but we also don’t want to deal with buying a ton of furniture at the moment for the space.

My last choice is the guest bathroom because it’s a room I hardly spend any time in, but it definitely could use some personality.

The wallpaper hanger stated she’d likely have to float, smooth and paint all of our walls since they’re ever so slightly textured, which is why I am thinking that it will be expensive. I’m not keen on a big splurge right after Christmas, so we’ll see.

If hanging wallpaper turns out to be price prohibitive, then I will likely focus on sprucing up the guest bedroom sans paint/wallpaper and try to make a big impact on a budget

What I do know is that the vision is the same no matter which room I choose- I want a gorgeous blue, white and hot pink space that has a big impact and some gold touches.

This One Room Challenge makeover from Mimosa Lane Blog features the Blue Hydrangea wallpaper I desperately want to use from Milton & King.

This gorgeous space from Mum Little Loves also stopped me in my tracks when I saw it on Instagram.

Caitlin Wilson also loves to mix blue and white with pink, and it’s simply of so freakin’ fabulous in this space below. It is PERFECTION.

So, while I do not have before photos to show you, my design vision for this space is crystal clear:

Come back next Tuesday to find out which room I choose AND to see the proper mood board for the space.

A special thank you to the sponsors who are making this challenge possible:
