Bright White Master Bathroom Refresh Plans

A gold vase with pink flowers looks gorgeous on a marble countertop.

Good morning, beautiful! Today is the first week of the Primp and Pamper Bathroom Refresh hosted by Jewel from Jeweled Interiors. I adore her unique, fearless decorating style and I appreciate this much needed kick in the rear to get my master bathroom a bit more glam. And if you're here from my girl Ariel's blog (PMQ for Two), welcome! She has amazing style, and I think you'll find we have a few similarities in our decor styles.

We built our home in 2017 and moved in late September. We chose the all the finishes for the entire home, including the master suite, so there won't be any crazy demos and I don't plan to paint or mess with the walls at this time. We love the cabinets, the lighting, and the mirrors will have to stay for now. The mirrors were a CRAZY bargain at Kirklands-- we paid $30 for BOTH mirrors. The builder ended up chipping one in the corner, but I stare at it daily and let it consume me into a tiny rage try to ignore it for now.

Overall, it's clean and simple and 100% functional. I mean, truly it's OK as is, but it could use some zhush.

The bathtub area is particularly bland.

Black interior doors and white wall create a luxe and dramatic master bathroom retreat.

I thought about what bathrooms I've really loved during my travels, and I also took into consideration when my husband said, "If you love me, you won't use any floral art in our master suite." I weighed my options between a trial separation and just not using floral art, and I love my husband enough to not use floral art. But I digress... him and I both really love Kimpton hotels.

Kimpton Hotel Vintage: Portland, Oregon

We have stayed at two Kimptons- the one in Washington D.C. and one above in Portland, Oregon. Both had all the luxe amenities and feel of a swanky hotel mixed with some kitsch and unexpected decor. And thus my boutique hotel master bathroom design plan was born.

The plan is to mix black and white elements with gold finishes, quirky art, and a healthy dash of hotel worthy/apothecary style accessories. I love the artwork on my inspo board, but the pink may not be fly with the Mr., so we shall see. In terms of stuff to buy, it's not anything too crazy.

I also want to incorporate an aromatherapy/oil diffuser (the pineapple in my inspo board is an oil diffuser) so it smells like a spa all the time (or at least when I'm getting ready in the morning). And finally, I want to add some fresh flowers (hence that gold vase I featured at the top of the post...isn't it gorgeous?) and maybe a plant to liven up the space a bit.

I don't really have a set budget, but I would love to keep it reasonable (~$150) since the One Room Challenge starts next month and I will be redoing our very bland master bedroom.

Here's my punch list for the month of March for this refresh:
  1. Procure new towels
  2. Find a pair of nice baskets/bins for the open shelves
  3. DIY some art/photographs
  4. Source some countertop accessories to decrease random counter clutter
  5. Look into new bath mats (if the price is right)
  6. Indulge in some fancy soaps/lotions/aromatherapy
  7. Add some florals or a plant
I hope you'll follow along with the refresh to see my progress each Tuesday during the month of March along with my fellow bloggers listed below. I now send you off to I Like It Lovely to see what her plans are, which I'm sure are very lovely indeed!

  7. My bathroom is similar to yours Monica... I recently renovate the old, destroyed, outdated bathroom of our new rental home. I made a good deal with the owner so I could spend some thousand Euros. It is all marble, a shower area with glass doors and white cabinets. My doors are a graphite color, your black doors are a dream! I love your inspiration board and I am waiting for the reveal ... you are my teacher :)

  8. You have the dreamiest bathroom vanity! I can’t wait to see what you do to the space.
