Bright White & Gold Home Office Reveal

Tufted gray sofa and lucite and gold floor lamp in a bright white office space.

Between this makeover and my $100 dining room reveal last week, I am tired! And boy has my camera also gotten a workout, too. I took 400 photos of this space and whittled it down to 20ish to share with you today as part of the New Year, New Room Refresh hosted by Casa Watkins Living

Catch up on the evolution of this space: week 1 (design plans) | week 2 (DIY organization ideas) | week 3 (lighting and office seating) | week 4 (all about my curtains) | week 5 (DIY ottoman makeover)

Truly this room is a refresh. There was no painting walls, I chose not to put up wallpaper right this minute, and I used a lot of what I had on hand already (reminder: we moved from a house to an apartment to this house, so we had a lot of stuff to work with). Sources are listed at the bottom of this post, and some links may be affiliate links- thanks for your support!

I did make a few purchases such as a roller shade for the window in front of my desk, the floral artwork above the sofa, and some decor/organization pieces.

This room was a hot mess just six short weeks ago:

And now, I invite you to look at the transformation...

Bright white and gold home office makeover with fawn curtains, gold etageres, and a sisal rug

Stylish VITTSJOS spray painted gold hold decor and craft supplies in this bright white and floral home office space.

It's truly amazing what some organization, cleaning up and a few new things can do to a space...like this gorgeous bleached sisal rug from Rugs USA. It adds a casual vibe to the space, which is totally what I wanted.

Gold VITTSJO shelves from IKEA got a glam makeover for a bright white and gold home office.

Originally my plan was to really go all out chinoiserie in here, but I ended up sticking to a few smaller blue and white accents (seen on the gold vittsjo shelves and my desk). I didn't want to spend a ton of money in this room since I had a lot of stuff already and because our master bedroom could use some love/money. This desk lamp provided by Lamps Plus really has made working late at night in here a lot easier on my eyeballs.

By keeping the decor pretty much confined to the etageres and a few pieces on the walls, I kept a bright white, airy vibe in here. The desk chair is sleek and blends right in to the space.

Originally I was not too happy about being stuck with the former living room sofa in here, but now I've grown to love it. If I get a migraine, which is too common lately, I can take a quick nap on there. And Pee Wee loves the sofa, too.

And he also loves the way the sun beams in and gives him sunbathing spots.

The artwork over the sofa, which is half off right now, adds some colorful, girly glam to the space.

A floral art print adds color and a feminine touch to a home office with white and gold touches.

The colors in the artwork were what I used to select a pillow from Kellie Smith's SmithHonig line. This velvet pillow with contrast welting adds a dash of luxe to the sofa. It's a firm pillow, which is wonderful for my back!

Another item from her line I incorporated is this parasol acrylic art block. The chinoiserie theme was calling my name, and the colors work well with the space.

The other lucite piece in here is my office chandelier. This isn't new-- I had it installed when we were building our home last summer, and I love it. I do wish it had some crystals or something, but that's just me being picky.

A lucite and brass chandelier adds glamour to a bright white and gold home office space.

Over by my desk, the pop of color and pattern comes from the curtains.

Gorgeous antelope curtains on a brass curtain rod with crystal finials.

And I also have some swoon worthy black closet doors that hide all my craft supplies.

And now I'll shut up and share some final decor detail shots.

  7. I love how chic and feminine your office is, Monica! I swear, it's time for another office makeover for me now. I'm just so inspired by your use of space and like I've commented before, I believe I absolutely need a couch in my office now. I mean, I tend to work from one anyways, so why not have one in there, right? Enjoy working from this dream! :)
