3 Reasons to Rent Stylish Furniture

As you all know, I got a new job and will be moving in a few weeks into an apartment. This is all really sudden and emotional, and truthfully it’s still all settling in my brain.

Other than the typical panic of starting something new, I feel so apprehensive about renting again because I’ve gotten used to having a really stylish home. I don’t want to sacrifice having a beautiful, well designed/furnished home just because it’s a temporary one.

Knowing that my 12-month apartment lease will likely be a one-time thing, I’m not looking to invest in new furniture pieces. Also, I have to keep most of the furniture in the house to help with staging and selling.

What’s a home decor/DIY blogger to do?Rent Furniture. I will be honest that it’s not something I had considered before because I assumed it’d be too expensive or not my style, but perusing through CORT Furniture Rental's Instagram feed has me second guessing those feelings. The offerings they have are gorgeous.

Here’s my top 3 reasons why you should consider renting furniture if you’re in a temporary housing/lease situation (renting, military, corporate housing, etc.)

1.) They have packages where you can rent a room for a low price. Buying new furniture can get pricey on top of paying for moving expenses, utility deposits, and housing costs. Renting a room worth of furniture makes the expenses more manageable during a transition. Or you could furnish a whole apartment and not worry about moving any furniture.

2.) It’s essentially furniture on demand. There when you need it, gone when you’re done with it. I don’t have to go pick it up, bug a relative with a truck to pick it up, try to sell it when I’m done or pack it when I’m ready to move. CORT does all the heavy lifting for both delivery and pick-up, and it doesn’t require you to lift a finger! (How swoon worthy is this dining table?)

3.) You can be a bit adventurous with your furniture choices since it’s temporary. I would love a trendy sofa that I know I wouldn’t have to commit to for the long haul. You can choose to go bold and get a navy tufted sofa! Or you can stick to classic/timeless and go for ivory. You have options that you only have to live with for the short term. How fun is that?!

I am definitely considering renting some living room furniture since I know I’ll want a comfy, cozy, stylish space to come home to after a day’s work. Plus, as you all know, I spend a lot of time watching TV, so a living room that I love is a must.

I look forward to chronicling my decor adventures in a rental property to showcase that any home/apartment, temporary or otherwise, can be beautiful with the right decor and furnishings. I chose an apartment this weekend and hope to show you all my new digs soon! I move in September 15 (squee!!)

  1. I can't wait to see your new apartment. Looking forward to following along on your new venture. I had a move once and had a small studio apartment that I furnished with hand me downs. I definitely appreciate your need for a nice place to come home to.
