DIY Gold & Marble VITTSJO Shelf IKEA Hack

Hey everyone! As I think everyone knows, I've been on Weight Watchers for 14 weeks/100 DAYS. Insane. I've lost 25 pounds, and I have a lot more energy now. I used to just want to sit around binge watching Netflix, and now I feel kind of restless if I do that.

I put all my energy to use this weekend by working on the office some more. The initial reveal was posted almost a year ago, I finished the closet doors about two weeks ago, and this past weekend I painted the wall Tricorn Black by Sherwin-Williams because I had some paint leftover from our master bedroom accent wall DIY. Here's a sneak peek- I'll have more photos next week.

I'm stoked to be partnering with Sherwin-Williams to kick-off National Painting Week (May 22-30). I desperately needed motivation to get this project done, so yay.

I have a love/hate relationship with paint. When it comes to choosing paint colors for my home, I tend to stay pretty safe and neutral. Grays, taupes and whites are my usual go-to’s. This year I’ve chosen to be a little more bold with my color choices—for instance, my Tricorn Black accent wall in my master bedroom. It’s dark, sultry and absolute perfection.

Bubbly Peach Cocktail Recipe with Alize Vodka

This post is in collaboration with Alize Peach. Intended for those 21+.

One of my favorite flavors in drinks is peach. It’s sweet, refreshing and just tastes good with anything. It also pairs well with other flavors such as raspberry, lemon, or strawberry. I also have been eating peaches daily because in Texas they’re in season, and they taste amazing right now.

Alizé recently released Alizé Peach which is a premium French vodka made of ripe, sweet, juicy peaches blended with French vodka. The taste is smooth and is simply fabulous on its own on the rocks or for mimosas, margaritas, and other cocktails like my Peachy Keen.

A delicious, simple and easy to make bubbly peach cocktail recipe made with Alize Peach vodka. Perfect for brunch, girls night in and entertaining. The ombre color of the cocktail is stunning.
I came up with the name because I felt simply peachy keen after sipping on one—it’s bubbly, sweet and a gorgeous cocktail that’ll make you look like an expert mixologist.

Tips for Entertaining on a Budget in Small Spaces

This month, May 23 to be exact, my husband Daniel and I celebrate seven years of marriage! I can seriously remember our wedding like it was yesterday. It was the happiest day of my life even though I didn’t get to eat much and was starving. After our reception, we changed into sweat pants and went to grab cheap tacos and drinks. True story.

Our reception was my favorite part. I planned every detail of every table and as you can see, my love of black, white and gold has never waned.

Thinking back to that first year of marriage, I remember wanting to do so much as newlyweds. I wanted to host grown-up dinner parties with cocktails, desserts and gorgeous tablescapes. I desperately wanted a house since we were living in an apartment (you’ll remember this time in my life if you were a reader of my blog from the beginning).

It all seemed overwhelming and impossible…but it wasn’t. We did host game nights, a Christmas party and I tried my best to decorate the small space we called our own.

Eddie Ross & Ballard Designs Inspired DIY Curtains

It is no secret that I adore Eddie Ross. I've been a fan since he was on Top Design. I had the honor of meeting him and being on the same BHG Live! holiday special with him in October 2015 (see the recap here), and it was a DREAM come true. I've learned a lot from Eddie over the years- he taught me how to make an ornament wreath, gave me the courage and know-how to shop smart at thrift shops, and overall inspires me to collect beautiful, unique things for a chic, curated look.

You must check out this tutorial for how to DIY curtains/drapes featured in the Ballard Designs & Eddie Ross collaboration. You can save almost $200 a panel- super easy, no sew tutorial. The curtains are gorgeous!
His book, Modern Mix, is my go-to for decor styling and thrift store tips. I've read it cover to cover, and I can safely tell you it is NOT just all about pretty pictures. You will learn a lot- seriously, buy his book now.

All that said, you can see why I was thrilled to participate in Jess' (from Domicile 37) challenge this month, and it's all about how to achieve that oh-so-desireable Eddie Ross aesthetic. Think eclectic, curated, colorful perfection. I don't know how he does it, but he is damn talented (and so nice!).

I've been swooning over his collaboration with Ballard Designs, as I told you all about last week. Totally obsessed. You see, I like Ballard Designs well enough, but throw Eddie into the mix and I've reached new fangirl heights. I want everything he uses to style the spaces featured in the catalog and online, but the item I coveted the most were the coral/peony colored drapes featured in the dining room. I COULD NOT stop thinking about those curtains.

When I priced out a pair for my office, the total was about $260+. In the catalog, Eddie trims out the panels with a lovely ribbon that costs $16/yard. I love Eddie, and I love Ballard, but I was not going to fork out $400+ for a pair of curtains.

DIY Floral Arranging Party Plan with Decor & Recipes

Everyone wants their home to smell nice, and one of my favorite ways to smell up my house in a good way is using candles. Lucky for me, it’s my most favorite time of year...spring! All the floral and berry scented candles are in full force and stocked on the shelves of your fave store.

The other thing I love about spring are the bold red, pink and magenta hues in home decor, clothing and accessories. These hues have a bright, bold, playful and light feeling. When I think of “Brightness” I think about the fun times I have with my friends and family where there’s lots of laughter and girly fun. I also think of being more spontaneous and in the moment to live life to its fullest.

Home Office Inspiration: Coral, Gold & Luxe Details

Happy Tuesday, friends. Last week I gained back two pounds on Weight Watchers, and I am totally fine with it. I know I didn't eat enough (7,000+ calories) to gain two pounds of actual weight, so I'll blame it on the cheeseburger I ate on Friday night in a moment of "I'm eating whatever I want for the first time in 11 weeks!!!!!" and stress/water retention.

But I digress. I was absolutely smitten and left speechless (literally...I've completely lost my voice! Daniel's thrilled...ha ha!) with two rooms I saw this past weekend. One landed in my mailbox via the current Ballard Designs catalog and the other came about as I was bored on Sunday and headed to Pinterest.

Let's look at the rooms that have the wheels in my head spinning. I want to implement elements from this room into my whole house. Can you imagine living in THIS living room?

Peanut Butter Fudge Soft Serve Weight Watchers Recipe

Only 3 SmartPoints: Weight Watchers Freestyle Peanut Butter Fudge Soft Serve Cups- perfect single serving treat.

Re-joining Weight Watchers has been one of the best decisions I've made in 2016. Their SmartPoints system really works well for me, and the program naturally helps me make better food choices.

In 10 weeks, I've lost 20.8 pounds using the SmartPoints system! I'm stoked. I'm eating a lot of fruits and veggies, lean protein, plus drinking way more water, but a habit that has proven hard to kick is my love of sweets. I love pastries, candy, and ice cream. There's nothing better than a yummy treat at the end of a long work day, right? I love sweet treats.

DIY Marble Fireplace & Mantel Makeover

Towards the end of February I got contacted about joining a DIY mantel makeover challenge sponsored by Angie's List. I was super intimidated because I knew that a project of this scope would be HUGE and that I'd have to get over my fear of tiling because I dreamed of having a marble surround.

This is a DIY before and after fireplace makeover that is a must see. The post features tons of photos of the new marble fireplace surround, and the blogger custom built the mantelshelf using inexpensive wood and MDF. There's a link to a detailed tutorial on how she did it. (via
