It’s a bit, um, embarassing to write about this DIY project since I started it way back in January. But, hey, better late than never. The walls are painted Sherwin Williams’ Peppercorn, which is HANDS DOWN my fave paint color ever. It’s like…sexy. Almost anything looks good when on the wall, and it really helps art pop.
I highly recommend finding a place for this color in your home, like right now. I think besides using it on walls, it’d be great on a furniture piece, shutters, or even a front door. In addition to using this color in my foyer, I’m also using it as a bold accent wall in my office makeover, which I’ll tell you more about on Friday.
What I need your help with today is picking out a new light fixture. Currently, the foyer is lit by a cheap light fixture I installed (all by myself) back in 2010 when we first moved in. While it definitely suffices, it doesn’t match the look I am going for. Forgive the uncaulked mouldings; that’s my to do project this weekend.
As you can see, we also replaced our brown, dark hollow core doors (if you need some ideas, check out this post I wrote about revamping dark, dated hollow core doors from the 1970’s) with some raised panel doors. We simply bought the doors and used our Dremel to mortise the hinges in (soooo much work). Then I used the Wagner Flexio 890, which is an AMAZING paint sprayer, (I should do a review of this soon for you all…money well spent on our part) to give them a flawless, high gloss factory finish. We also use the Flexio to paint trim in mere minutes. That paint sprayer saves us so much time, headaches, and paint.
Now, I kind of feel that our front door might need some paint or stain. It just doesn’t quite fit in, and I need new front door hardware for sure.
My top choice for a light is the Nerisa Chandelier from Amazon.
I want the foyer to feel glamorous, welcoming, bright and swanky.
