My Crusade to Wear Shorts this Summer

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Slimfast, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #14daystoslim http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

During the summer months in Texas, the temperatures can easily reach over 100 degrees by lunchtime. As a plus sized gal, this means I don’t want to spend my summer in jeans and sweaters to cover myself up. I want to be comfortable and confident (and cool). Sometimes I feel losing a few pounds can really help make me feel successful and empowered to lose some weight. Now I know I won’t reach my goal weight in a summer, but even losing 4-6 pounds can do wonders for my outlook.

My biggest weakness is definitely sweets—cake is my BFF. I love cake, and now I think I have found a way to have my cake and eat it, too. In April 2014, Slimfast unveiled their newest flavor: Have Your Cake… Meal Bar! It’s essentially like a vanilla cake with frosting and sprinkles, and due to my busy schedule it’s become a quick way to have a meal (bar) on the go. I was pumped when I got the Slimfast meal bars in the mail:

The meal bars can be used as part of the Slimfast 14 Days to Slim program which can help a person lose up to 6 pounds in 2 weeks. You simply replace two meals with a meal bar, and for your third meal have a sensible meal that’s no more than 500 calories (I try to make this meal heavy on veggies and lean proteins so I won’t be hungry). Also, make sure to drink plenty of water and get in 30 minutes of dancing (or an activity of your choice). It’s super simple, and I’m doing it as part of my crusade to feel comfortable in shorts this summer!

As a busy blogger (as you can see below—this is my home office blogging/crafting space) who also works full-time, these bars are super convenient. Sometimes I have to fit in a meal when I am driving for over an hour for my job, or when I am busy working on a project with a tight deadline and don’t want to break away from my zone.

I’ve quickly added it to my “must-have items” stash (which includes my notebook, lipstick, and business cards), plus it has it’s own special pocket in my purse:

The Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown is manageable and will hopefully help me gain momentum in making progress towards weight loss. I’ve been kind of stalled lately and not really committing to anything, so this is the much needed oomph I need to get back to Disney shape. I say Disney shape since we are going later this year. Anyone who has been to Disney will tell you…it’s a lot of walking and it’s hot. I want to feel as confident as I did when we first went in 2008, plus life is overall much more enjoyable when you’re taking care of yourself and being active, right? Right!

I also like to think back to last year, and how awesome I felt when I was counting calories and being active. I was PROUD of myself. I want to be proud again.

And darn it, I WILL wear shorts and be comfy this summer.

I’m happy to be a few days into the Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown and feeling good. I’m also off the diet soda and drinking water constantly, so overall I’m thrilled to be making some positive changes. The scale has already gone down 2 pounds!

If you want to try these tasty bars out and commit to your own Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown, you can find them at most major retailers. I grabbed an extra box at Target this weekend for about $5. If you want to check out more tasty Slimfast products, motivation, and tips, follow them on Facebook, Pinterest, or head to their website.

Happy summer, y’all!
