Healthy LIFEstyle {Weight Loss}

This is a lifestyle blog. Clearly- I mean, look at my logo/banner image. It clearly states so.

This isn’t an “Extreme Home Lifestyle” blog or an “Extreme Weight Loss” blog… so, why, WHY do I choose to look at weight loss/healthy living in such an extreme way? Do you do that, too? I can’t be alone.

I am a rational girl (stop laughing, Daniel), and I can come to terms with balance, reality and all that jazz. Yet I have had such an all-or-nothing approach to healthy living.

Let’s reflect back on this year when I weighed every morsel of food from January 1st to mid-April. EVERY MORSEL. I exercised for 100 days straight. Even through an eye infection. Even through my drunken birthday evening. Even through all the days I was hurting (like legitimately hurting…damn knees!) and didn’t want to.

Then from mid-April until yesterday, I’ve been half-assing it. Exercising only 1-3 times a week. Semi-tracking my food intake. Sporadically drinking water and continuously chugging diet pepsi.

Those are 2 extremes, aren’t they? The super strict and the super loose.

And today I woke up and decided that although I didn’t lose the weight I wanted to for BlogHer, I do still need to lose weight in general. Like 70 pounds or so. But I’ll never do this unless I find a happy medium I can sustain. Obviously.

You’re probably thinking, “Did she really have to write a post about something that is SO obvious?” Well, yes because I think this is something revolutionary to me. I might be able to do this if I can create and follow healthy habits most (not all) of the time.

Or this could just be me being really nervous that I might die during my workout with Bob Harper on Saturday and he’ll whip my ass if I don’t do something about this excess weight.

Either way, something’s gotta give. Have you had a weight loss or other life epiphany that’s so obvious, yet so hard to do? Tell me about it.

  1. Read my blog dude its all about suffering while trying to lose and gain and lose and gain. Then drowning your sorrows in a Dosarita. Seriously it's hard to lose weight when you have no will power and your husband says who wants burgers? Don't be hard on yourself though. If you fail one day well get back on that wagon and try again.

  2. I'm in the process of losing 80lbs. I was never overweight until I got pregnant with #2 and it's PAINFUL to have to lose so much weight. I've been stuck in a rut and now I'm ready to get out and get moving! I'll be your inspiration if you'll be mine!

  3. Just like you, I also try to lose weight. I have been getting exercise for 3 months and honestly it's hard to do. Initially, it given hard measure to me but finally I enjoy it so much moreover it gives a lot of benefits especially in losing weight. I still want to lose my weight by 10 pounds more, so keep spirit!

  4. Hey there Monica =).. I just passed your blog today and you wrote a nice article here.

    I used to have weightproblems too.. I gained, then lost etc... And wasn't really happy about it... especially when people were talking about my body, it made me feel insecure...

    Since 2 years now I met my girlfriend and she told me about food additives and a vegetarian lifestyle. I started to do some research about these subjects and implemented a new view on food in my lifestyle...

    Ever since I'm a vegetarian. My weight is about 165.35lbs (6.17ft tall) and I feel light as a feather and enjoy my life much more. This is for the physical part of my health.. Ofcourse there is also a mental part of my health; for that part I started working out and doing some Yoga exercises and last but not least I started doing meditation and affirmations. Really I felt like a new man! And I still feel really good and I hope you will reach your goals too! If you would like to get some advice on LivinggHEALTHY you can contact me @LivinggHEALTHY (twitter) or Lorenzo@LivinggGOOD.com

    Anyway this was my little story :P I'll be following your blog, maybe you should check out mine too ;)

    Bye bye Monica!
